A Nairobi businesswoman, Mary Waithira Gikonyo, has been charged at the Kibera Law Courts with the theft of luxury electronics and jewellery worth nearly Ksh.1 million.

• The alleged theft occurred on March 22, 2025, at a residence on Kumbe Road in Hardy, Lang'ata sub-county.
• Among the stolen items were a gold Casino jewellery watch, an iPhone 14, a Samsung video camera, three HP laptops, two PlayStations, and several designer wall clocks, collectively valued at Ksh.933,500.
• Principal Magistrate Agnetta Ogonda released Waithira on a cash bail of Ksh.50,000, despite the prosecution's request to deny bail due to concerns about interference with investigations.
• Waithira's lawyer, John Swaka, argued the case stemmed from a domestic dispute with her estranged husband, stating his client was not a flight risk.
