The U.S. Department of State Consular Affairs has clarified that the registration period for the Diversity Visa (DV) 2027 is not yet open, debunking widespread online misinformation. This comes as the U.S. government introduces new processing fees for the program.

• Kenyans and other foreign nationals will be required to pay a $1 (Ksh130) electronic registration fee to enter the DV-2027 program, a new requirement.
• The new $1 fee is in addition to the mandatory $330 (Ksh42,619) application fee for selected applicants.
• The U.S. Department of State (DOS) announced the changes on October 8, aiming to distribute administrative costs more fairly.
