Five traffic police officers were arrested on Thursday along the Kisumu–Busia Highway for allegedly demanding bribes from motorists. The arrests were made by detectives from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) following numerous public complaints.

• The officers arrested are Corporal Hezron Aburi, Corporal Mary Nabei, Police Constable James Weru, Police Constable Mwakwekwe Nyoka, and Police Constable Aisha Abdullahi.
• The officers were attached to Busia Police Station and were allegedly soliciting bribes at a checkpoint about five kilometres from Busia Town.
• The operation is part of an ongoing EACC crackdown on bribery at public service delivery points, targeting essential public services and sectors prone to corruption.
