In a stunning upset, Kenya Airports Police Unit (KAPU) defeated defending champions General Service Unit (GSU) 3-2 in the opening match of the 2025-2026 Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) Men’s National League at Kasarani Indoor Arena.

GSU's defeat was attributed to the absence of key players: outside hitter Nicholas Matui, setter Mathias Kemboi, and libero Hudson Kipchumba.
KAPU secured the victory with a decisive 15-5 win in the fifth set, despite GSU initially taking the first set 25-21.
In other matches, Administration Police of Kenya (AP Kenya) defeated newcomers Eldoret Water (Eldowas) 3-2, and Prisons Nairobi also secured a 3-2 win against National Youth Service (NYS).
