ODM parliamentary candidate for Kasipul, Boyd Were, had his campaign event in Opondo, Central Kasipul, attacked by suspected hired goons on Thursday afternoon. The assault left his security personnel and several locals injured, with gunshots reported.

• Boyd Were claims the goons were hired by his opponent.
• The attackers destroyed property, including a public address system and later tents and chairs at another planned event in Nyalenda, where two motorcycles were burnt.
• A close associate of Were, Jim, was later attacked with a machete, sustaining a deep cut to his forehead.
• Boyd Were is campaigning to replace his father, the late MP Charles Were, who was shot dead in Nairobi on April 30 this year.
