The county governments of Garissa and Laikipia have signed a new intergovernmental agreement with Kenya's Ministry of Education to streamline the issuance of bursaries and scholarships. This follows a similar agreement established with Kisumu and Marsabit counties.

• The agreement was signed on May 8, 2025, by Garissa Governor Nathif Aden and Laikipia Governor Joshua Irungu.
• Education CS Julius Ogamba confirmed similar partnerships with Kisumu Governor Anyang' Nyong'o and Marsabit Governor Mohamud Ali on October 31.
• The initiative aims to enhance transparency, accountability, and equitable access to quality education by creating a structured framework for bursary and scholarship distribution.
