Residents in Nyamira and Bungoma counties staged protests on Tuesday, demanding the urgent repair of deplorable roads, citing unfulfilled promises by President William Ruto during his tenure as Deputy President.

• The protests were fueled by a pledge made over three years ago by President Ruto to upgrade key routes, including the Manga–Mote–Momwamu road in Nyamira.
• Douglas Ngare, a Manga resident, highlighted the severe deterioration, stating vehicles routinely get stuck in deep mud, requiring assistance from passersby.
• In Bungoma County, business activities along the Kenya–Uganda border were paralyzed in Lwakhaka, with Joy Nelima noting that even vehicles transporting goods are getting stuck.
