The Kenyan Cabinet has approved a waiver of Sh12.3 billion in interest and penalties on outstanding land settlement loans, aiming to relieve financial pressure on low-income settlers across 26 counties.

• The waiver benefits thousands of settlers in 520 settlement schemes.
• The decision followed recommendations from the Land Settlement Fund Board of Trustees.
• Beneficiaries will receive a 12-month moratorium to clear principal loan balances, enabling them to obtain title deeds and use them as collateral.
