A man has been sentenced to death in Kithimani for the violent robbery and attack on the mother of former Yatta Member of Parliament Charles Kilonzo. The court found him guilty of robbery with violence after he assaulted the victim with a panga, stole her phone and cash, and left her tied up.

• The robbery occurred on December 8, 2023, in Ndarani, Yatta Sub-County, Machakos.
• The attacker stole a mobile phone valued at Ksh15,000 and an unknown amount of cash.
• The brutal attack caused Kilonzo’s mother to lose the power of speech.
• Under Section 296(2) of the Penal Code (Cap. 63, Laws of Kenya), robbery with violence carries a minimum death sentence.
