Siaya Governor James Orengo has threatened to halt the salaries of striking nurses after a court order directed them to resume duties immediately. The nurses, who have been on strike for seven weeks, must return to work by Thursday, November 13, 2025, at 8 am or face salary withholdings.

• The Kisumu court issued an interim injunction restraining the nurses from continuing their industrial action.
• The County Government of Siaya cited the failure to fulfill a previous return-to-work agreement and non-remittance of statutory deductions as reasons for the strike.
• Nurses are also demanding compensation for colleagues injured by suspected hired goons during a September demonstration, where more than 20 nurses were hurt.
