A Compliance Officer for the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), Evans Agumba Oriato, has been charged in Kisumu Anti-Corruption Court for allegedly soliciting and receiving a Ksh.500,000 bribe. The bribe was supposedly to help Jane Memorial Secondary School file nil tax returns.

Oriato allegedly demanded Ksh.1 million from the school to file nil returns for 2016 to 2020.
He was arrested by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) during an operation while receiving a Ksh.250,000 bribe.
Oriato was charged with three counts of receiving a bribe and released on a Ksh.500,000 bond with a surety of a similar amount on November 12, 2025.
