A new report by the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) reveals that five of Kenya’s largest ethnic communities dominate government employment, holding over 80% of public service positions and threatening national unity.
- Kikuyu, Kalenjin, Luo, Luhya, and Kamba communities control the majority of senior government jobs.
- NCIC Commissioner Danvas Makori highlighted that Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital is "absolutely non-compliant" with 67% representation from dominant communities.
- The report, the 2025 Ethnic and Diversity Audit, also exposed a significant gender gap, with women holding only 22% of CEO positions in state corporations, far below the constitutional two-thirds gender requirement.
