The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party’s National Governing Council (NGC) has officially approved the appointment of Siaya Senator Oburu Oginga as its new party leader, succeeding his late younger brother, Raila Odinga. This decision came during a special sitting in Mombasa ahead of the party's 20th anniversary celebrations.

• Oburu Oginga was named acting party leader on October 16, 2025, following Raila Odinga’s demise.
• The NGC also ratified the appointments of Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nassir, Kisii Governor Simba Arati, and Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi as the three Deputy Party leaders.
• Other approved appointments include Kisumu Woman Representative Ruth Odinga as Deputy Organising Secretary and Kisumu West MP Rosa Buyu as Secretary of Political Affairs.
