Over 12,000 youth in Bungoma, Kenya, have begun receiving start-up funds as part of the new Nyota Programme, a government initiative aimed at empowering vulnerable youth across the country.

• A total of Ksh303.8 million has been disbursed in Bungoma, with each beneficiary receiving Ksh22,000, of which Ksh3,000 is saved to promote financial discipline.
• Principal Secretary Susan Mang’eni announced the rollout, confirming that the program targets over 100,000 vulnerable youth across all 1,450 wards in Kenya.
• Beneficiaries will undergo a two-month mentorship program followed by a three-day business development training before receiving their final capital tranche. Training has also commenced in 25 other counties, with 63,231 youth expected to attend.
