The British Basketball Federation (BBF) has announced it will enter liquidation due to a "significant and unanticipated reduction in income" and "unforeseen expenditure," signaling a deepening crisis for the sport in the UK.

• The BBF cited an inability to meet its liabilities, partly attributed to legal costs from a dispute with Super League Basketball (SLB).
• Fiba, basketball’s world governing body, had previously suspended the BBF over governance issues and recently reached an agreement with SLB to oversee the top-tier men’s competition.
• GBB League Ltd (GBBL), which was awarded a 15-year license by the BBF to run a new professional men’s league, is evaluating options, noting that "significant sums of money have been paid to the BBF."
