• The IEBC requested Ksh. 61.7 billion but Parliament approved Ksh. 57.3 billion, leading to a Ksh. 4.4 billion reduction.
• The cuts will force a scale-down of personnel at polling stations and the national tallying centre, affecting the deployment of officials, which constitutes about 53 percent of the election budget.
• Insufficient funding could compromise the Kenya Integrated Elections Management System (KIEMS), essential for technological aspects like Biometric Voter Registration and Electronic Results Transmission, and necessitate the purchase of new, advanced election kits.
