A recent TransUnion report reveals that Kenya was among Africa's most affected nations by digital fraud between February and May 2025, with 10% of survey participants falling victim.

• Kenya had the second-highest number of victims in the region, behind only South Africa (13%).
• Phishing was the most reported fraud type, affecting 46% of participants, followed by money or gift card scams and smishing.
• The gaming sector in Kenya recorded the highest suspected fraud rate at 10.4%, while financial services, telecommunications, and travel and leisure were the least targeted.
• 81% of Kenyans surveyed reported being targeted by email, online, phone, or text message fraud, compared to 48% globally.
