The UN-backed Gang Suppression Force (GSF) in Haiti is "firmly in control" and conducting decisive operations against criminal networks, according to Kenyan Force Commander Godfrey Otunge. This announcement comes amid concerns about the transition from the previous Multinational Security Support Mission (MSSM).

• The GSF integrates capabilities, personnel, and intelligence of all national forces under one coordinated mission, according to Otunge.
• The GSF was established following a United Nations Security Council vote on September 30, approving Resolution 2793, transitioning the Kenya-led MSS into a more robust stabilization force.
• The new force is expected to deploy more than 5,500 personnel—over five times the size of the MSS—and is authorized under Chapter VII of the UN Charter.
