President William Ruto received the prestigious Confederation of African Football (CAF) President’s Outstanding Achievement Award on Wednesday, November 19, in absentia, with Kenya's Ambassador to Morocco, Jessica Gakinya, accepting on his behalf.

• The award recognizes Kenya's dedication to strengthening sports in Africa, specifically through infrastructure upgrades like the Ksh45 billion Talanta Stadium, which is 66 percent complete.
• CAF President Patrice Motsepe highlighted the importance of partnerships for football development, noting Kenya's successful co-hosting of the 2024 African Nations Championships (CHAN) and winning the bid for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
• The Kenyan government has also revised reward packages for athletes, approved by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) in April 2025, and recognized East African counterparts Samia Suluhu (Tanzania) and Yoweri Museveni (Uganda) at the awards.
