The Mbeere North by-election campaigns have intensified, marked by a public dispute between Deputy President Kithure Kindiki and his predecessor, Rigathi Gachagua, regarding development in the Mount Kenya East region.

• The by-election will elect a successor to Geoffrey Ruku.
• DP Kindiki campaigned for Leonard Wa Muthende of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
• Rigathi Gachagua campaigned for Newton Karish of the Democratic Party (DP).
• Kindiki stated, "Ati unanitusi, mimi ni rika yako? Wewe ni kingpin for who? Omba kura wacha kuja kunitusi nyumbani. You are a small timer, I will deal with you."
• The by-election is scheduled for next week.
