Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja has denied claims that Kenyan police officers are abducting citizens, stating such actions are unconstitutional and against the National Police Service (NPS) mandate. He emphasized that the NPS operates strictly within the law and will take disciplinary action against any officer aiding abductions.

• IG Kanja affirmed that abduction is not a duty defined in the Kenyan Constitution for police officers, following a surge of 82 reported abductions since June last year, with 29 people currently missing.
• Kanja also addressed the escape of Collins Jumaisi, the prime suspect in the murder of 42 women, confirming that appropriate action was taken against officers deemed responsible for his escape and a fresh manhunt is underway.
• He reiterated the commitment of the police service to uphold the law and ensure accountability for officers involved in any unlawful activities.
