The governments of Kenya and the UK have launched a new digital customs clearance platform, eCUSTOMS, designed to streamline trade and modernize border operations. Unveiled at the Busia One Stop Border Post (OSBP) on the Kenya-Uganda border, the app aims to significantly reduce clearance times and improve efficiency for traders and travelers.

• The eCUSTOMS app is a collaboration between the British High Commission in Kenya, the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), and TradeMark Africa (TMA).
• The system is expected to cut cumulative truck queues by 1,200 hours daily at Busia OSBP and save small traders approximately Ksh750 per customs declaration.
• KRA Commissioner General Humphrey Wattanga stated that the platform will provide faster, more accessible, and more transparent services by enabling paperless processes.
