The Multilateral Cooperation Center for Development Finance (MCDF) has approved a USD3.15 million (Ksh408,586,500) grant to fund a feasibility study for the upgrade of the Mau Summit–Malaba road project in Kenya.

The grant will finance the study for a 243-kilometer stretch of road, a vital gateway to Uganda, DRC, Tanzania, Rwanda, and Burundi.
The project is crucial for enhancing connectivity between landlocked East African regions and the Port of Mombasa, aiming to boost trade and reduce accidents and congestion.
This announcement follows President William Ruto's confirmation that the dualling of the 170km Rironi-Naivasha-Mau Summit road, overseen by China Roads and Bridges Corporation (CRBC), will commence on November 28, 2025.
