The Multilateral Cooperation Center for Development Finance (MCDF) has approved a USD3.15 million (Ksh408,586,500) grant to fund a feasibility study for the upgrade of the Mau Summit–Malaba road project in Kenya.
- The grant will finance the study for a 243-kilometer stretch of road, a vital gateway to Uganda, DRC, Tanzania, Rwanda, and Burundi.
- The project is crucial for enhancing connectivity between landlocked East African regions and the Port of Mombasa, aiming to boost trade and reduce accidents and congestion.
- This announcement follows President William Ruto's confirmation that the dualling of the 170km Rironi-Naivasha-Mau Summit road, overseen by China Roads and Bridges Corporation (CRBC), will commence on November 28, 2025.
