The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) has declared the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) unfit to conduct the 2027 General Election following chaotic by-elections held on Thursday, November 28, 2025. LSK issued a statement on Friday, November 28, 2025, warning of impending political chaos and urging urgent reforms to prevent further electoral violence.

The by-elections, conducted in 22 regions, were marred by widespread chaos and bloodshed.
LSK warned that Kenya risks undoing its democratic gains if electoral violence continues unchecked, stressing that the IEBC has little room for complacency ahead of 2027.
The body called for immediate deterrent measures against perpetrators of electoral violence and urged the IEBC, security agencies, and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) to investigate and prosecute those culpable under Section 11 of the Elections Offenses Act.
