A Chinese national was arrested in Gikomba Market after the Anti-Counterfeit Authority (ACA) seized 65,000 counterfeit socks and apparel worth approximately Ksh50 million. The suspect is believed to be a key distributor planning to release these fake goods during the festive season.

The raid followed complaints from several global brands regarding unlawful trademark use.
ACA Nairobi Regional Manager Abdi Abikar noted the shipment was allegedly transshipped through Uganda to hide its origin.
The suspect, considered a flight risk, is being held at Kamukunji Police Station while authorities trace his network.
ACA Executive Director Robi King'a stated that counterfeiting poses health and safety risks to consumers and causes significant economic losses.
ACA will increase surveillance during the festive season in hotspots like Gikomba, Kamukunji, Eastleigh, and Nairobi CBD.
