The Kenyan government has identified Kisii, Migori, and Bomet counties as hotspots for child defilement and gender-based violence (GBV), with many cases involving guardians. Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen announced this during the presentation of the Jukwaa la Usalama report to President William Ruto at Statehouse, Nairobi, on December 2.

• Murkomen emphasized the urgent fight against sexual violence, especially defilement by those entrusted with children's protection.
• The Interior Ministry proposed mandatory prosecution for all defilement cases, ending non-judicial settlements.
• The report also highlighted ongoing security threats including banditry in Isiolo and Meru, drug abuse, and political interference.
