Kenya is transforming the Galana Kulalu area into its first Agricultural Special Economic Zone (SEZ), as announced by Agriculture and Livestock Development Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe, to boost large-scale farming and food security by attracting global agribusiness investors.

The SEZ will offer tax incentives, simplified regulations, and improved infrastructure to attract investment.
The Ministry of Agriculture is currently leasing 1.8 million acres under the Land Commercialization Initiative (LCI), the largest such effort in Kenya’s history.
The One-Stop Land Commercialization Office aims to fast-track land acquisition for investors to within one month.
Nyumba Group has already leased 300,000 acres and invested USD 50 million (Sh 7.5 billion), creating over 3,000 jobs.
