Chief Justice Martha Koome has urged for increased regional cooperation to enhance a multi-door approach to justice across East Africa, addressing pervasive challenges within the justice system during the 22nd East Africa Magistrates and Judges Association (EAMJA) Annual Conference.

• The conference theme was “Justice Beyond Brick and Mortar: Unlocking Multi-Door Pathways for People-Centred Justice in East Africa.”
• CJ Koome highlighted that issues like legislative hurdles, resource scarcity, and community engagement gaps are common across the region, making collaboration critical.
• Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, also present, emphasized the necessity of judicial systems acting as open doorways to fairness and dignity, but cautioned that expediency must not compromise fairness.
