President William Ruto has traveled to Washington, D.C. at the invitation of President Donald Trump to witness the signing of the significant DRC-Rwanda Peace Agreement.
- The agreement aims to address decades of conflict in Eastern DRC and involves Rwandan President Paul Kagame and President Félix Tshisekedi of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
- Kenya played a pivotal role in earlier peace processes through the Nairobi and Luanda initiatives, and through the broader East African Community (EAC) and Southern African Development Community (SADC).
- During his visit, President Ruto will also pursue strategic interests in trade, investment, health cooperation, and security, including witnessing the signing of the Kenya-U.S Health Cooperation Framework.
