Moses Wetang'ula, Speaker of the National Assembly, and Noordin Haji, Director-General of the National Intelligence Service, are among 54 advocates recommended for the Senior Counsel rank by the Law Society of Kenya (LSK).

• The list was confirmed on Thursday, December 4, by Philip Murgor, Chairperson of the Committee on Senior Counsel, LSK.
• Other notable names include Kivutha Kibwana, P. L.O. Lumumba, and Nelson Havi.
• An advocate requires over 15 years of practice and significant contributions to the legal profession to be eligible for this rank, which is officially conferred by the President upon recommendation from the Chief Justice.
• Currently, there are 66 Senior Counsels in Kenya, with the last group admitted in August 2022.
• Separately, the Judiciary Service Commission (JSC) shortlisted 185 candidates for positions in the Court of Appeal, High Court, and Environment and Land Court from a total of 714 applications, as announced in a gazette dated November 14.
