A coalition of 17 Western countries, led by the United Kingdom and Germany, has issued new demands to Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu regarding alleged human rights abuses.

• The coalition demanded the immediate release of all bodies of those killed during protests, all political prisoners, and the provision of legal and medical support to detainees.
• The call follows credible reports from domestic and international organizations detailing extrajudicial killings, disappearances, arbitrary arrests, and concealment of dead bodies.
• The countries urged Suluhu to address recommendations from African Union (AU) and Southern African Development Community (SADC) preliminary election reports, which highlighted shortcomings in Tanzania's electoral process.
• The development comes after the United States announced a comprehensive review of its bilateral relationship with Tanzania due to the killings witnessed on October 29.
