The Siaya County Government has signed a 10-year lease agreement with Nile Logistics Ltd for the upgrade and operation of the Usonga Siriwo Rice Mill. This partnership aims to boost the county’s rice value chain and enhance farmer incomes.

• Siaya County has invested KSh 71 million in the mill’s infrastructure to date.
• Nile Logistics Ltd is required to ensure at least 60% of the workforce is drawn from the local community.
• The county plans to increase land under rice production to 11,200 acres and raise yields from 2,500 kg to 4,000 kg per acre, potentially supplying over 35% of Kenya’s total rice demand.
