The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has been recognized as a top-performing public institution in Kenya, receiving four national awards for its excellence in financial reporting, accountability, and public service management.

• The MoD was named the Overall Winner in the Public Sector Category at the 2025 Financial Reporting (FiRe) Awards and topped the ranking for Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
• Defence Cabinet Secretary Soipan Tuya accepted the awards, which included the Unmodified Audit Opinion Award and a citation for Leadership in Driving the Public Service Transformation Agenda from the Office of the Head of Public Service.
• The recognition highlights the Ministry’s adherence to financial reporting standards, transparency guidelines, and strong governance systems, as noted by Principal Secretary Dr. Patrick Mariru.
