Defence lawyers have strongly criticized the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) for allegedly detaining suspects without evidence and humiliating them by sharing their photos online. This condemnation arose during a court proceeding on Monday, December 9, 2025, concerning a fake identity cards case.

• Lawyers, led by advocate Danstan Omari, demanded an apology from the DCI, arguing that arrests and online parades without disclosed evidence were improper and violated suspects' rights.
• The defence highlighted the welfare of suspects, including a mother unable to breastfeed and an ill individual, emphasizing that arrests made on a Friday were a deliberate tactic to prolong detention over the weekend.
• Magistrate Kiage is expected to rule on the DCI's detention request on December 11, which will decide the fate of the suspects.
