President William Ruto has approved the construction of high-end hotels within Tsavo National Park and directed an upward review of park fees for tourists, aiming to boost revenue for both the government and local communities.

• Daily tourist charges for new high-end hotels will range from Ksh64,625 (USD500) to Ksh129,250 (USD1,000).
• Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) and the Ministry of Tourism are tasked with implementing the directives and ensuring new hotels meet international standards.
• No hotels within the park will be allowed to charge below Ksh3,000 for accommodation services.
• Ruto also directed the development of a carbon trading plan for Tsavo East and West National Parks, including the Galana Kulalu irrigation scheme, to create additional income streams for locals.
