A Kenyan national, Augustine Kiprono, faces deportation from the UK after being sentenced to three years in jail for causing a serious road accident. The incident left an elderly couple with life-changing injuries.

• Kiprono was intoxicated, nearly one-and-a-half times over the legal alcohol limit, and driving without insurance or a UK driving license.
• The crash occurred on June 4 on the A53 between Leek and Endon, seriously injuring a couple on a motorcycle.
• He pleaded guilty to causing serious injury by dangerous driving and received a three-year sentence, along with a six-and-a-half-year driving ban.
