Violations of Economic, Social, and Cultural (ECOSOC) rights were the most reported abuses in Kenya over the past year, according to the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR) State of Human Rights Report 2024–2025. These violations accounted for nearly half of all complaints received, highlighting significant gaps in the realization of fundamental rights.

• 1,381 out of 2,848 complaints documented by the KNCHR related to ECOSOC rights, including access to health, water, food, education, social security, and housing.
• The KNCHR linked these unmet rights to increased agitation, especially among youth, contributing to a rise in civil and political rights violations.
• Adults aged 35–59 filed the majority of complaints (1,297), followed closely by youth aged 18–34 (1,210 complaints), indicating widespread socioeconomic pressures across all age groups.
