Kenya's President William Ruto announced that the expansion of the Tsavo West Rhino Sanctuary to 3,200 square kilometres will generate over 18,000 jobs and inject more than Sh5.8 billion into the local economy by 2030.

President Ruto stated that overcrowding in previous sanctuaries affected rhino breeding and increased conflict among the animals.
