The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has been recognized as Kenya's top-performing public institution, securing four major national awards at the 2025 Financial Reporting (FiRe) Awards for excellence in financial reporting, accountability, and public sector leadership.

• The MoD received an Unmodified Audit Opinion Award and the Leadership in Driving the Public Service Transformation Agenda 2025 Award from the Office of the Head of Public Service.
• These awards were presented to Defence Cabinet Secretary Soipan Tuya by Defence Principal Secretary Patrick Mariru at the Defence Headquarters on Wednesday, December 10.
• The recognition highlights the ministry's commitment to integrity, professionalism, and efficient resource management, as stated by CS Tuya.
• Following this, the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) also received a FiRe Award for its performance in financial accountability and reporting, after receiving an unmodified (clean) audit opinion for the 2024/2025 financial year.
