Rwanda has accused the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Burundi of deliberately violating a recently signed peace agreement in eastern DRC, just days after Rwandan-backed armed fighters entered the key city of Uvira.
- The M23 militia, part of the River Congo Alliance (AFC), entered the strategic border city of Uvira late Tuesday.
- The Rwandan foreign ministry stated that recent violations "cannot be placed on Rwanda" and claimed Congolese and Burundian armies systematically bombed villages near Rwanda's border.
- Burundi deployed approximately 10,000 soldiers to eastern DRC in October 2023, with reinforcements increasing their presence to around 18,000 men.
