Homicide detectives have taken over the investigation into the murder of 12-year-old Patience Mumbe, whose body was discovered near Embakasi Police Station a week ago. Her death has prompted a full-scale inquiry by specialised units within the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

• A Toyota Probox is being tracked after a crucial witness reported seeing a suspicious vehicle near Embakasi Primary School, believed to have disposed of the body.
• Investigators from the DCI's forensic, imaging, and general investigations departments are reviewing CCTV footage from the Pipeline area, where Patience was last seen running toward the highway.
• Detectives are aiming to identify the perpetrators, uncover the motive behind the killing, and understand why the body was left so close to a police station.
