A Mombasa court has ordered seven Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldiers detained for 10 days in connection with a Sh192 million methamphetamine trafficking case. The arrests follow a joint operation and coincide with an internal KDF investigation into personnel alleged to have stolen part of a massive Sh8.2 billion meth consignment seized earlier.
- The seven soldiers were arrested on December 11, facing charges of trafficking 25 kilograms of methamphetamine.
- The investigating officer, PC Isaac Njoroge, reported additional narcotics and 11 mobile phones were recovered during searches at the soldiers' homes.
- The current case follows the interception of the dhow IGOR on October 25, under Operation Bahari Safi 2025.01, which recovered 1,024 kilograms of high-grade crystal meth.
