President William Ruto has agreed to rename the soon-to-be-completed Talanta Stadium to the Raila Amolo Odinga International Stadium, following a proposal by Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja. This decision, announced during Jamhuri Day celebrations, will honor the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, who passed away on October 15.

• The stadium, currently in its final phase, is set to be Kenya's largest sporting arena, surpassing the 48,000-seat Kasarani Stadium.
• The facility is scheduled for completion at the end of next year, ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
• The renaming will significantly enshrine Raila Odinga's legacy within one of Kenya's most prominent landmarks.
