During this year's Mashujaa Day celebrations, President William Ruto announced significant road infrastructure upgrades for Nairobi, including the major renovation and beautification of the Mombasa Road–Uhuru Highway–Waiyaki Way stretch. These projects aim to alleviate persistent traffic congestion and improve urban aesthetics, with some works commencing this month.
- The renovation of the 27-kilometer route connecting Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) to ABC Point via Uhuru Highway and Waiyaki Way is scheduled to begin in December.
- President William Ruto cited the poor state of the road and the need to ease congestion as key drivers for the upgrade.
- Additional renovation works are underway or planned for Valley Road, Ngong Road, Haile Selassie route, and dualling projects on the Bomas of Kenya–Rongai–Kiserian and Bomas of Kenya–Karen–Shade Hotel–Ngong–Embulbul–Kiserian roads starting next year.
- A new 60-kilometer expressway from Museum Hill Interchange to Thika town is also planned to further ease traffic.
