Kenyan manufacturers are set to incur significantly higher compliance costs due to changes in the **Standards Levy Order 2025**, which dramatically increases the maximum annual levy payable to the **Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS)**.

• The annual levy cap for manufacturers will rise from **Ksh400,000** to **Ksh4 million** for the first five years, further increasing to **Ksh6 million** by **2030**.
• Investments, Trade and Industry Cabinet Secretary **Lee Kinyanjui** was involved in discussions with manufacturing stakeholders regarding the changes.
• Manufacturers with an annual turnover below **Ksh5 million** will remain exempt, a provision benefiting over **10,000 micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs)**.
