The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has successfully blocked a payout of over Ksh6.1 billion to companies accused of submitting fraudulent procurement claims to the National Youth Service (NYS).

• The blocked payment amounts to precisely Ksh6,167,797,655 for purportedly non-existent contracts and supplies to NYS.
• The EACC launched its investigation following a request from Cabinet Secretary for Public Service Geoffrey Ruku, who flagged multiple payment claims.
• Investigations revealed 277 Local Purchase Orders (LPOs), delivery notes, and invoices were allegedly forged, with forensic analysis showing computer-generated characters instead of originating from the Government Printer.
• A former NYS Director of Finance is alleged to have signed 245 of the disputed LPOs despite knowing the supplies were fictitious.
• Lady Justice Lucy Njuguna of the Anti-Corruption Court granted temporary injunctions on December 5, 2025, restraining both the claimants and NYS from making any payments for the disputed claims.
