The High Court in Kenya has lifted restrictions that previously barred Marie Stopes Kenya from offering abortion services, post-abortion care, and related public information. The court found that the directives issued by various state bodies lacked legal authority and were unconstitutional.

• The ruling quashed decisions by the Kenya Films & Classification Board (KFCB), the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC), and the Director of Medical Services (DMS).
• The petition challenging the bans was filed in November 2018 by the Network for Adolescents and Youth of Africa (NAYA–Kenya) and Jackline Mary Karanja.
• Justice Chacha Mwita ruled that none of the three bodies had the constitutional or statutory mandate to impose the restrictions, deeming their actions unlawful and *ultra vires*.
