Nairobi County Governor Johnson Sakaja is facing scrutiny after the Controller of Budget, Margaret Nyakang'o, reported that Nairobi City County spent an alarming 69 percent of its revenue, or Ksh4.7 billion, on salaries within just three months (July to September).
- Between July and September, Nairobi City County spent Ksh4.79 billion on staff compensation, out of a total revenue of Ksh6.6 billion.
- Controller of Budget Margaret Nyakang'o flagged the county's spending, noting that only Ksh202.2 million was allocated to development projects.
