The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), through its Anti-Terrorism Police Unit (ATPU), has requested 15 days to investigate alleged terrorism activities against Turkish national Ahmet Mustafa Gungor. Gungor was arrested on December 21, 2025, at the SGR Nairobi Terminus following a Mutual Legal Assistance request from Türkiye and concerns about his involvement in terrorism-related activities.

The suspect, Ahmet Mustafa Gungor, is being investigated for offences including financing of terrorism, recruitment into terrorist organisations, and membership in a terrorist group.
Amnesty International - Kenya has stated that Gungor is a refugee who has resided in Kenya for 15 years, is not a flight risk, and has committed no crime.
ATPU officers recovered an iPhone 15 and a Kenyan Urban Refugee Identity Card from Gungor, and believe his electronic devices contain crucial evidence regarding terrorist activities.
