The Kenya Electricity Transmission Company (KETRACO) has energized the 400/220kV Mariakani Substation, significantly boosting reliable and affordable electricity supply to Kenya's Coastal region. This development is crucial for stabilizing power, reducing reliance on expensive diesel, and fostering industrial growth.

• The substation was funded through a KES 3 billion partnership between the Government of Kenya and the African Development Bank (AfDB).
• KETRACO Acting Managing Director, Kipkemoi Kibias, stated it will enable cleaner, more stable energy flow at lower costs.
• It concludes Phase II of the Mombasa-Nairobi Transmission Line Project, allowing transmission of over 1,000MW of clean energy to the Coast.
